Reverend Roosevelt Mosby – Reverend Mosby is the Founder and Executive Director of Sexual Minority AIDS Alliance of Alameda County (SMAAC) Youth Center in Oakland, California. Founded in 1998, it is still the only LGBTQ Youth Service Organization targeting youth in the Bay area. Roosevelt has been a voice to be reckoned with for the African American movement against the spread of HIV since 1990. He has been active in federal, state and local HIV planning, care and treatment efforts targeting youth, women, faith communities and men who have sex with men. He has served in many leadership capacities including Board Chair for the National Black Lesbian and Gay Leadership Forum, The African American Health Disparities Foundation, the Bay area Regional HIV Prevention Planning Council for Alameda county and The Ryan White Care and Treatment Council for alameda County. A serving Minister at the Olivett Institutional Baptist Church of Oakland, in 2006 Roosevelt founded the “Ambassadors For Change”, and HIV/AIDS Prevention Gospel Choir that aims to approach hard conversations about HIV/AIDS within the African American faith community.
